Nature of this website
Central Coast Kitchen Renovations is a referral business. We do not ourselves carry out cabinetmaking, building, plumbing, gas, electrical or benchtop work. Enquiries received through this site are referred to the licensed builder we work in partnership with.
The builder
Kitchen renovation work arranged through this website is carried out in partnership with Coastal Renovation Group, a licensed NSW builder. Licence and insurance details are provided on request.
Ask for the licence number before work begins and check it on the NSW public licence register yourself. The register lists the licence holder, licence class, status, expiry and any disciplinary action.
The builder prepares the quote, enters the contract with you, performs the work and is responsible for it. Workmanship warranties are provided by the builder, and so is any home building compensation cover required for the job.
What we do not warrant
We give no assurance that any other trade or contractor holds a specific licence, class or accreditation, and we do not continually check insurance. Before work starts, ask for a current certificate of currency along with the licence details.
Engineered stone
Engineered stone benchtops, panels and slabs cannot be supplied or installed in Australia since 1 July 2024. Any work that cuts or removes an existing engineered stone benchtop needs proper silica dust controls.
Asbestos
We do not remove asbestos, and asbestos removal is not included as a hidden part of a kitchen renovation. In NSW it requires a separate asbestos removal licence and is carried out by a licensed asbestos removalist.
Holding a builder's licence does not permit someone to remove asbestos. Many Central Coast homes built before about 1990 used asbestos cement products, so this matters.
If someone suggests tearing out an older kitchen without testing for asbestos, do not go ahead — get another opinion.
Approvals
The builder can advise what strata or council approvals are usually needed, based on experience. The decision belongs to your owners corporation or Central Coast Council, and nobody on this site can promise an approval or a timeframe.
